A Sea Turtle picture a day #38

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today's picture is of one of the fiberglass molds that we made for the tests in the wind tunnel. We are very happy with the molds. They were very time consuming to make but when we join the two pieces together it will make them easier to piece together.
Ttodd Jones the project leader is holding the mold.

A Sea Turtle picture a day #36

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today I am still in San Diego and work on the turtle molds is progressing very well. This picture is of the 2 researchers that I am working with Dr Jeff Seminoff of NOAA and soon to be DR TTodd Jones of UBC. here they are taking the turtle out of the plaster of paris mold. These molds we made are we part and today we are going to apply fiberglass to them so that we will be able to make replicas of the turtles for the study.

A Sea Turtle picture a day #34

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today's Picture is of 3 turtles that we are working with here in San Diego.I am going to be making fiberglass molds of these turtles. Then the fiberglass turtles will be put in a wind tunnel to be measured with various things attached to their shells,Satellite transmitters critter cams time depth recorders. We are trying to find out how science is effecting turtles that have these devices attached to their shells.
