A Sea Turtle Picture A Day # 208

Welcome back. Today we are heading back to Hawaii.This picture is of a Green Sea Turtle that I was watching as it was eating in a shallow tide pool. I was patiently waiting for it to raise its head to take a breath. My intent was to get some close up pictures of its face.Sitting there foe about an hour it finally raised its head and looked directly at the camera.

Welcome back. I first off want to apologize for being absent from blogging for the past few days,I was hoping to post some new pictures of Leatherback sea turtles.I was invited to participate in a research project to tag and release adult Leatherback turtles off of the coast of California.
The weather has not cooperated at all with the project and when the fog finally breaks the boat decides that it will also break.
So 30 hours of driving later I am finally siting at my desk dreaming of what could have been.
So on that note todays picture is of a Leatherback that was raised in captivity at the University Of British Columbia.

Welcome back. Todays picture is of a Green Sea Turtle that is resting in the shallow water of the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Green turtles in Hawaii have started to crawl up onto shore to rest. This allows non divers a chance to see these amazing creatures.

Welcome back. Todays picture is of Dr Ttodd Jones as he is applying a satellite transmitter to a Leatherback Sea Turtle model in a wind tunnel. Dr Jones was studying how science is affecting turtles.
Dr Jones should be publishing his findings soon.
