A Sea Turtle Picture A day # 115

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today I am posting something just a little different. This is a picture a=of an ancient rock carving of a Sea Turtle that is located in the Puako Petrogliph fields on the Big Island of Hawaii. The more places that I travel in the world the more carvings of pictures of Sea Turtles that I find. It seems that these wonderful creatures intrigued and moved ancient people like the do modern people.

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today we are heading down to Colima Mexico to a Sea turtle hatchery. At this hatchery they collect the eggs after the turtles lay them and then bring them to a hatchery to let them hatch. In some parts of Mexico people still collect the eggs to eat.
This picture is of a hatchling that has been held at the hatchery for a year and will be released in the coming days.

Welcome back to a Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today we are going back to the beach on the Big Island of Hawaii right before sunset. I was walking and noticed this sleeping Green turtle right as the sun was starting to set.
Hawaii is one of only 2 places in the world where sea turtles haul out on the shore to bask in the sun.

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today we are going to visit Guam and check in on the 2 Green Sea turtles that I brought out to the Guam Zoo. Here they are swimming in their new home. They had never seen fish before so they were a little skittish when we first put them in the tank. After a few days they were all good friends.

A Sea Turtle Picture A day # 102

Welcome back to A Sea Turtle Picture A Day. I am now on the island of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia. And the hotel that I am staying at has very slow internet. I guess that slow is better then not at all. Went out and did 3 dives today and on the last dive I saw 2 Hawksbill sea turtles so today was a great day for me.
Todays picture is of a Green sea turtle that is hanging in the airport in Guam. There are a total of 15 of the replica turtles that have the shells painted with different murals. I really liked the intricate detail of this one.

I hope that all of you have a great Easter weekend. I know that I will I will be underwater with my video camera looking for sea turtles and whatever else swims by.

See you tomorrow.

Hello Everyone. I am sorry for the absence in posting. As you know I am in Guam delivering 2 green sea turtles to a zoo and the internet here where I am staying is to be desired. Tonight I am leaving for one of the outer islands that has even spottier internet access so I will not be posting until mid next week.
This is a picture of me taken by my daughter of the turtle release into its new home. I am happy to report that they are both doing well and have started eating again.

See you next week
