A Sea Turtle Picture A day # 83

Welcome back to a Sea Turtle Picture A Day. Today we are heading back over to the Big Island of Hawaii. This is a picture of a Green Sea Turtle(Chelonia mydas) Resting on the lava. That little device that is attached to its shell is a TDR or time depth recorder. And it does just that it records the depth that the turtle goes down and also the amount of time that it spent at those depths. This data is used to study the diving behaviour of the turtle.

This picture was taken with a Nikon D-100 camera with a 70-300mm lens

See you tomorrow
